Check the 10mm nuts that hold the shifter down. I had several of these come loose. Eventually the shifter doesn't work anymore. You can see them from underneath after dropping down the spare tire pan.

Help! Just tried to shift into first at a red light, something felt like it fell out from under the front end of my van, and the van makes grinding noises when I try to accelerate and I can't go anywhere - does not get into gear.

Had it towed to my house. Tow guy thinks it's the gear shift linkage in the front. Any adivice on repairing this, or any other ideas on possible cause would be greatly appreciated!!!
