When I say jack up the rear, I mean it, like the pressure tank is eye level for me, about 5 feet off the ground. Don't try this with a Chinese jack. Way too dangerouse. The thermo and hose are above the drain holes in the head and air does displace most of the coolant back there.

Well, it sure does. You can tell by the extra gallon or more that drains from the heads after applying the air a dozen or more times. This procedure drains at least 3.5 gallons. The remaining fluid is diluted with the water refill and then redrained. I suggest you have less than a pint of old fluid remaining with this drain and dilute process.
