Folks, Currently on a 2 week road trip. San Fran Bay area ... down the coast to Morrow bay, inland to Death Valley ...... across Mojave NPS to Phx for the weekend and back to bay area via some other as yet determined route. The ole beloved 85 Westy is performing like a champ on our first longish meandering adventure. A bunch of it in the back country .... dirt roads and jeep trails. On 4 occasions during this trip ... as I was cruising at high way speed around 3,800 - 4,000 RPM the engine/van starting cutting out, bucking and missing. I backed off the RPM's till it smooth out and kept increasing until it started again. Each of the 4 events lasted 10-15 minutes, then went away ... all the while I kept driving keeping the rpm's as high as it would run somewhat smooth. Perhaps it happened a bit more as I was climbing a hill. Is due to the infamous "Wiring Harness" problem for which a complete new harness or a shorter retro fit piece is the solution. It's a bit embarrassing when the bicyclist passes you. |
