For engine speed, carefully roll the van one wheel revolution in inches. Then divide by 12 to get feet. Divide that number into 5280 and you will have wheel revs per mile.

Now, go to www.volksweb.relitech.com/helmet/gearbox.htm and find your transmission code and ratios.

Now, pick an engine speed, gear ratio, your final drive ratio, and your tire revs per mile. Now take engine rpm/final drive/gear ratio/revs per mile x 60. This will tell you road speed at that given rpm. Do it for each rpm you are curious about. Make a little chart and tape it on your dash. ----- Original Message ----- From: TinkerMan <tinkerman007@YAHOO.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Wednesday, December 26, 2001 2:52 AM Subject: # tachometer ideas
