I have about 230K miles on my '91 and have recently developed a thumping noise in the front end suspension. I recently, within the year, put new KYB shocks on but I don't recall the noise appearing at that time. My guess was that the dampening ring at the top of the spring was worn, cracked or no longer soft and when the suspension extended, over a rut or something, the spring slapped against the hard ring on the rebound. I took the spring off and checked the ring and it seemed good. Everything else seems solid and good under there. Has anyone encountered such a problem - it's driving me crazy. Thanks Gary |
