You can buy the whole Thin-Lite #171 assembly at Northern Arizona Wind and Sun http://www.windsun.com/Misc_AE/Thin-Lite.htm for $23.75 plus shipping. I opted for the model #172 which is a dual bulb version of the same light for $30.75. I had to re-use my on/off switch, since they are made to be hardwired.

About 10 years ago while moving all of my household belongings with my Vanagon I broke the Lens of the fluorescent light over the fold-down table with a shovel handle ......dohh! Of course I also broke the fluorescent tube. After much searching I was eventually able to replace the tube but never the lens. I tried every parts source I knew of and a whole lot of new ones and the answer always came back negative or "you have to buy the whole light assembly" for about a million dollars.

Last year I happened to be working with a plastic extruder who had a profile in his literature that looked oddly familiar. I managed to obtain a small sample and .....could it be true?.....it fit the VFL Fixture perfectly! It took a bit of arm twisting but the extruder agreed to supply me with some extruded lengths next time they ran the mold. Normally these arrangements are quickly forgotten but by some miracle I now have some of the extruded stock. I have already installed mine and it looks just like the original but snaps into place and stays there better than the original.

The dimensions to check are Length 17 3/8" Width 2 1/4". If you would like one of these, e-mail me for further details or to order one for $10 including S&H to the lower 48 from MA. You can also call 508-732-7505 weekdays
