Subject: Air lift suspension system

Thank you Terry Kay for recommending the air lift suspension system to me and helping me with installation tips. You were right about how easy it was to install. Road handling is much improved especially around corners. I have only 30 psi in the air balloons now and will test them with a load on our next camping trip.

You were right about installation. The balloons went inside the springs very easily, and the whole installation took less than one hour. I'm sure someone who is handy and did not make a few mistakes like I did could do it in 1/2 hour. I did not attach the clamps and air lines to the balloon stems before lowering the van, so I had to raise the van up again to make this easier on the left side. I also took photos of my installation process which took some time.

If anyone is interested in the photos I took to demonstrate installation I have set up a web page for you to view at: http://members.home.net/holisticdream/airlift.htm

I installed mine with a Tee on the air lines. If installed with two separate fill valves (provided in the kit) you might be able to compensate for any sag due to the extra weight of camper equipment on the left side.

If anyone is interested in installing them on your vanagon I have set up an account with Air Lift and will provide them to anyone for a discounted price (just 15% above cost--about $80, plus shipping.) Check your local suppliers first to see if you can find a good price to avoid shipping costs. Let me know what you can get them for and I will see what I can do. I got delivery in three days from the Air Lift company.
