Michael,

I am only aware of the incompatibility of bias-ply and radial tires when used on the same axle. Mixing treads and tire brands is OK, just don't plan on doing any true tire rotations and keep like tires on the same axle if possible -- I did this on my Westy for about 8 months. As for the tire pressure, I'd stick with manufacturer recommendations for the vehicle type.

Why would you want to use those tires on the front in the summer? Coarse-tread tires can mute steering feel, cause unnecessary vibrations and are more prone to cupping.

Chris,

'85 Westy.

Dear friends:

Sorry for the double posting, I realized after I sent this the first time, that I should have a better subject line to get a response to my question........

I currently have 6 month old Uniroyal Laredo AWP (195 75R14) tires on the front of my 84 Vanagon Camper. I need to replace my rear tires and am thinking of getting Bridgestone Dueler A/T D693 for added snow and off-road traction. Can you advise me about the following:

1. Is it bad for road handling to mix tire types like this?

2. What pressure do you recommend for these tires for best wet road handling?

3. Do you advise rotating these tires for longer life? ( I would put the Bridgestones on the front during the summer months)

Thanks for your input and happy holidays, Michael Sheridan
