Subject: The Front Bearing "saga" continues...
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Hello All, Before I continue with my "saga", a quick "thank you" to all, especially Tim H., Stan W., Tom C., Joel W., Mike M., Myron L., Terry K. and Adam P. for the continued support in the "Front Bearing Saga". On my way home from work yesterday, I stopped by my local "Mom and Pop" hardware store (Netcong Hardware, fantastic place, excellent help) and picked up a 1/2" cold chisel. I went home, changed into my "work on the Van clothes", got my hammer and went out to beat the bearing right off the spindle. "Save the spindle" kept playing over and over in my head... I would never "go at my front hub assembly with a hammer and chisel" without the trusted advice of this list. I beat the inner bearing ring till the chisel gave up... Chipped the edge off on both sides of the chisel. There is a very nice "V" cut into the stubborn inner bearing ring that appears to be hanging on by a thread but just would not split before the poor chisel broke. So, on the way home tonight I shall get the 5/8" or even the 3/4" cold chisel and maybe the inner bearing ring will "throw in the towel" before the chisel will... Stay tuned for the next installment of the "Front Bearing saga".

Thank you for your support.

Richard and Annemarie 85 GL "Buba" (left front wheel currently in the air...)
