Multiple electrode spark plugs do not create multiple sparks. The extra electrodes are there just in case the other ones fail. So in this case I don't see the reason to pay extra for fancy spark plugs for our Vanagons (content) when well maintained OEM plugs will do just the same. Think about it: electrons will follow the shortest path of least resistance...so if one electrode fowls or gaps itself too much the next one closest to the platinum core tip will take over.

Bosch Quad tip plugs are like this, plus you get three additional electrodes to prevent no spark.
