The specification is, non-phosphate ethylene glycol. The late GM specification meets this criteria. Sierra does not as it is not ethylene glycol.

Most/all the major companies market the GM spec fluid as "100,000mile/5year", "extended life", ect. Typically orange tint. Read on the back the ingredients. Must be ethylene glycol base with no phosphates listed. Amazing how it took US manufacturers 40 years to catch up to the higher specs of all the Euro manufactures. They started putting alloy heads on cast iron blocks in the 50's, which required the higher standard fluid.
