<DIV>Have '84 Vanagon GL with Adventurewagon that had an engine fire that was confined to engine compartment; no smoke or fire damage to rest of vehicle except for plastic louvers and back lights. Adjuster is trying to say it's totaled and worth less than $2,000.00. My agent suggests I find for sale ads of a similar critter to submit for a more correct damage estimate. My Vanagon has 137,500 miles; is water-cooled; newish All Terrain Winston radial tires; new clutch & water pump; interior virtually perfect; exterior body clean but lacks side door handle & has some rust under chrome strip around top (fixable!). I want to 'buy it' back from Ins. Co. and have engine electrical system renewed of burnt components. </DIV>
