I just wrote up my successful driveshaft rebuild on the Syncro list yesterday. I used NAPA 813 U-joints and a new BMW flex disc and it's working great. No more waves in my coffee! The NAPA joints are about $20, so I'd recommend you at least try that before tossing your driveshaft (and then toss it this way). :-)
