Rotax was Swiss, now owned by Canadians, I think; thought > they only made skidoo engines and dirtbike 4-strokes. Haflinger... no > idea! The Haflinger is powered by a PUCH twin boxer, rear position, similar to the PUCH 500cc cars and estate wagons, but it is RPM limited. The Pinzgauer, the Haflinger's bigger, younger stablemate was powered by an in-line 4 cylinder air cooled 2 liter gas, front mounted. It is now being manufactured in the UK instead of Austria with a water-cooled diesel! another important boxer engine ( not water-cooled) would be the Citroen 2CV series. Dave Richoux '83.5 Westy, Pinz 710M, BMW R50/2, R11 RT, former owner of several other BMW boxers, a '96 Subaru Outback, '72 Loaf and a '68 2CV.... I guess I like boxer engines, huh? |
