Here's a tip, having done it myself: remove the tranny! Only 4 bolts + ground strap in the back mount and 6 each on the CV's, 2 on the clutch, not much extra work. Then, you have the opportunity to clean and inspect the tranny, change fluids, and add extra lube in the ends of the CV joints. Now, you can easily bolt everything together without laying on the driveway, just like they do it in the factory. Then slide the whole assembly under the van and use the back tranny mount to locate the assembly in the right position. Put the 4 bolts in loosely, and you only have to jack up the engine into the bay. No balancing, or pushing around trying to line up everything, or fussing with everything. Piece of cake. Another tip: put plastic bags over the ends of the CV joints - it keeps grease off your clothes, face, hair, etc. Have fun! Bill Marshall 85 GL Tiico Phoenix AZ |
