I had the same issue with my 90 Westy. My fix was that the little hook on the door was not aligned with the receptical slot as the screws holding the recepticle were slightly loose and it fel out of alignment. Easy to see, easy to fix, but getting a tool in that tight area was the hardest part. I used an old Craftsman ratchet screwdriver that is shaped in an elongated L with the horizontal part of the letter a stub of a flat blade which I was able to fit into the phillips screw and tighten.
