Hello all - I'm the proud owner of an 89 westfalia 125k...took a trip to NY from CA and everything went relatively well other than the fact that the solenoid on the starter started to go bad in Texas. Replaced the starter in NY. Next day noticed that I had a mushy clutch and had trouble shifting. After scouring the many messages on vanagon archives (thank-you vanagon.com!) I inspected my steering wheel column for leakage from clutch master cylinder (no leak) and the slave cylinder (leak). After inspecting the records from previous owner, turns out that VW dealer replaced leaking clutch master cylinder 10,000 miles ago but did not replace slave cylinder. That really disturbed me after reading numerous messages on the archives emphasizing the replacement of both at the same time. Anyways, I know what that problem is but while inspecting the slave cylinder I noticed a green fluid dripping from beneath the engine. Oh No! I am really hoping this is not a head problem since the heads were replaced 30k ago. I am going to do some research on the archives now but just wanted to ask everyone if they have ever experienced antifreeze leakage due to cold weather. I am in Buffalo! There was no previous leakage in CA (I always looked underneath for fluid loss). Thanks. |
