A while back I was researching engine conversions and read on the Tii co site engine spec listed more horsepower and torque, than the same engine on the SA VW site specs. I thought perhaps that the Tii Co engine was chipped and began emailing various chip vendors. Their comments surprised me. I didn't share them at the time with the list as not to berate the TII co conversion, but I've wondered what level of truth there was to the statements. I've listed them below and would like to hear feedback if possible.

Various replies were that the Bosch Mototronic 9 was not a US market system and incompatible with their chip. Another conversation with tiico convertor was that the Mototronic 9 has little if no common items with Bosch US market injection systems. I surmised at least that product knowledge of the Mototronic 9 may be more dicey that the Name Bosch Injection indicates. I also heard that Motortronic 9 was more of an Eastern Europe application.

I know these are largely undocumented but, perhaps more light can be shed on this Bosch fuel management system, and other US Market applications of it and or its component interchange ability, i.e. can a used ECU's or what sensors can be found. Does VW or other OEM outlet stock parts for the system, other than the Tiico distributor?

sincerely,

Anyone who works on modern Audi's and VWs would have no problem with the Mototronic management system. Unfortunately unless you buy a kit you are not going to see these pieces. Anyone out there have alternate connections in SA? Tom Czerniak 1987 Westy w/tiico 181200 on Van 9200 on new engine
