If you want to go for extended oil changes, I'd recommend using synthetic oil. I am using Mobil 1 15w 50, and change it at around 8,000 miles or so. Allows me to not have to worry about oil changes out on the road.

Been doing this for around three years now and the bus has just over 160,000 miles on it. No warning lights or buzzers anymore, and never any lifter noise after start up, even when the bus has been sitting in my carport for months.
