The mixture adjustment screw on the AFM only effects the mixture at idle. If everything is set correctly, the O2 sensor has the ultimate control. With the Digijet injection, idle speed and mixture setting is somewhat critical. Setting the mixture richer than what the O2 sensor is trying to maintain will cause idle surging. This is due to the injector cut out which occurs at 1300 rpm when the throttle is closed. When the engine goes over 1330 rpm with a closed throttle the injectors are turned off. When the engine goes below 13300 rpm, the injectors turn back on with the O@ sensor disabled for 30 crank revolutions. If the mixture is rich enough during this bypass to bring the engine over 1300 RPM, we start the idle surge again.

Or would gas consumption be too high....and would the car run too hot?....or would the added richness help to keep head temps down.
