With my '91, the sliding door would also not stay open. The catch on the exterior of the body that latches onto the interior catch was okay. It was the interior latching mechanism that had a stress crack from frequent use. Took the door panel off and saw it immediately when the exterior latch did not hook on properly. Took it off, got it welded and re-installed. Works perfectly now and is not a big job.

The sliding door on my 1991 Westfalia refuses to stay locked in the open position. Looking at the Bentley I cant see what causes the door to stay locked in the open position.
