Subject: Door Seals
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="ISO-8859-1"

I'm, replacing the door seals on my '87 Westy and have a small question. The seal on the top and leading edge which evidently was only on the Westy models and was never on my Westy for some reason. (PO took them off or they fell off or who knows.) Anyways, I saw them in the parts diagram on the ETKA and ordered them and now I'm trying to install them. HA ! Another Vanagon PITA. The BIG question is this: Where do they start and stop. It would seem to me that they should start at the upper rear corner and follow the edge forward to where the door edge stops just before the top hinge. Well, the weather strip provided by VW is not long enough to do this. Am I supposed to stretch and glue it in place (PITA) ? If I start it at the upper rear corner it ends about four inches shy of the end of the edge before the hinge. If I start it at the hinge end it ends up four inches shy of the upper rear corner. This seems to be the most logical as it offers the best seal at the front. Anyone out there still have these seals in the original position on their Westy and would let me know how they are installed ? Hoping for some insight to this small dilemma. Thanks !
