Great story. In L.A., our survival instincts are more often tested by Starbucks-powered zipheads and marauding SUVs, whose supreme delight is found in compulsive tailgating and lane jockeying at 75 mph. That, and cell phone yakkers, oblivious to the world. On leisurely freeway jaunts, we fully expect to see our lives flashing before our eyes at any moment. Still, we persevere... Local color aside, even with MXT's and chains, I'll now think twice about weather before a 2wd Vanagon ski trip. But then, how much fun is life without a little adrenaline once in a while?
