Subject:      coolant pressure gauge
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hello Volks!

With all those talks about gauges, I think I have another idea: how about a coolant pressure gauge?... I know it sounds crazy, but after losing my motor due to driving without coolant (no, I wasn't ignoring the warning light and temp gauge: due to a rare double malfunction of the coolant monitoring system there was no warning) I've come to think that when there's no coolant in the engine the pressure should also drop, although it might be too late by then. Of course, coolant pressure isn't a simple function because when the motor's cold there's no pressure either, and I guess it's highest when coolant temp is maximal under heavy load. Oil temp might be a sign too but I'd prefer a direct warning for a faster response. These motors sure are sensitive princesses... Has anyone played with monitoring coolant pressure and come up with interesting conclusions?

===== Cheers, TinkerMan
