Yeah, a probe in all four cylinders would be interesting. I think EGT is more informative than cylinder head temp. "

From my kart racing days, the EGT is about a million times more useful for engine tuning than the CHT. The CHT tells you how hot the top of your engine is...the EGT tells you how the combustion is doing. This was much more critical in the 2 cycle racing engines, but I bet you could learn a lot on the Vanagon engines. I like the aircraft application. Neat.
