I was first hooked by my younger brother who had bought a 70 beetle. With
150k on it that we knew of. The year was 1979 and yes i did have a lime green
leasure suite and afro.I was the tender age of 22. For a short time i Owned
this beetle But realy wanted a micro bus( all the windows were cool). I was
about to purchase a 66 double cab When i was to late with the funds. Some one
else got to it first and the previous owner sold it. Year was 1980. I still
hung around the previous owner of my beetle, he raced formula V and always
had a project going . I purchased a New rabit 1980. Graduated to a jetta in
1983 got married and put 130k on it. Sold it for a "family car"
a domestic station wagon .Now after several cars I have finaly returned to a
86 GL
with 195k that i purchased from the man who i was to buy the double cab
from.( a small world and I have come full circle ) Now if i can make a deal
for his 74 baywindow .......... Man do i have it bad or what ? may need rehab
or a biger garage.
Now at the age of 45 the only thing i regreat is now acting fast enough on
the double cab. It Suffered a engine fire and died .
