If you want to try it yourself, here's a post I saved from December '01:

Piece O'Cake, just add the little capacitor between terminals 2 and 4
on the AFM and it will solve your bucking. This is what the VW
pigtail does for $125, the cap. is only about $1.50 from any electronic
shop.

Magic harness is VW part number 025 906 302A
I think this would help with your problem. It was developed just for
this symptom.
It is pricey at VW dealers (no kidding). BusDepot has them at lower
prices.
