I think I can still hear the flaps closing if I suddenly start the blower at higher road speeds than that -- but don't notice much difference in the output at highway speeds. The ram effect is very powerful on this vehicle.

Quite incidentally, I discovered (under stress of being late reporting back for duty in 1970) that my Sunbeam Alpine could run considerable distances without a fan belt, as long as I never slowed below 80, or was it 85. The water pump shaft also held the fan, so it would windmill and keep the water circulating. Nice flat straight roads between Gulfport and Pensacola...
