You need to contact UPS immediately, if you have not already, and inform them of the damage. But I don't know if you'll be able to initiate the claim; the shipper may have to. Also, UPS will only reimburse the shipper, so you will have to collect your $$ from him and then let him collect from UPS. Finally, UPS may deny the claim if they don't feel that the package was packed well enough. Realistically, they usually waive the inspection if the claim is under $100, so this may not come up, but if the claim exceeds $100 it almost certainly will.
