William Said: I first cleaned out my engine by adding Gunk engine flush and running the engine for 5 minutes as per instructions on the can and then draining it. Stan said : Tell us what came out of the engine with the flush. Did you strain the oil to check for bearing flakes, brass distributor gears, iron rings / cylinders.? Was it blacker than usual ? Was it thick with carbon and crud? I mean was it thicker than the oil in just a standard oil dump? This is something you want to check any time you use engine flush. The Gunk or Siloo or other engine flushes normally dissolve varnish, loosen carbon, flush out oil galleries, clean the surface of your internal crankcase. The measure of how good it worked is the crud that comes out with the oil and flush. Its always good to know if they actually did any good or if you just threw your money away. I've flushed engines and had very nice clean oil and it told me that the block internals were already clean. Then there are always the three oil changes scenario, that baby was really stopped up, gummed up, shellacked up and I could definitely tell that the engine flush was cleaning everything or something.
