Subject: Power loss still in '85

Hi,

I still have power loss - I initially noticed it only in third when increasing the rpms to shift, but now it's apparent when pushing on the accelerator to hard/fast on the flats, highway when increasing speed, going up hills even in second. Yesterday I couldn't go faster than 30 mph up a reasonable hill without it coughing and losing power. I replaced the vacuum hoses and dirty fuel filter, but not yet the distributor, as one person recommended. Any trouble shooting sequences I should do before I get a new distributor? I should mention that it seems to happen mostly after it's warmed up and has been going awhile.

I just bought the van last month and ddrove some long distances without this happening then.

Having this occurance in LA traffic, where I'm visiting, is a bit disconcerting! And I'd like to go on a trip!

Thanks,

Andree
