I don't have Optima battery, just ordinary group 41 Walmart battery. Recently i decided to gain much easier access to battery, aux. battery relay and have some hidden space. So, i pulled out my grinder and removed useless(to me) turntable mechanism. Result works very well. To compensate for lost seat hight just placed foam pad under the sheepskin cover. I am cabinet builder and use 1/2" baltic birch plywood for many projects. It's incredibly strong and easy to work with. You can make raised box out of it with hinged cover behind driver seat. Just an idea... Leon 85 Subwagen Westy
