On the subject of names, and since it's Friday (in some parts of the world), I wonder if any of you are acquainted with the theory of nominative determinism. (A friend, who came up with the theory independently, refers to it as "nomen becomin'.") The theory suggests that in many cases, and individual's occupation or interests are determined by his/her name. As an example, I worked for many years in commercial radio broadcasting, and my name is "DJ" Baker. (I could have been a pastry chef, I guess.) Once you're sensitized to this notion, you will find that examples abound everywhere. (I was visiting a friend who is in the hospital the other day and noted that the head physician was named "Medhat.")

So, share with us your examples of nominative determinism. It would be especially interesting to find someone whose name somehow related to our involvement in the Vanagon mythos.
