Subject: After 3000 mi trip: 84h2o overheating, grinding gears(manual trans
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Sorry about the double post, but I wanted to post WITH a subject line, not without :>o

Helloo!

Thanks for all the input, it is of a lot of help. I have just replaced the water pump with a new italian make, G&B, for 89.95 at Kragen, special order item yesterday over the phone. I know now that the water pump is working, and I left the thermostat out, too. The hoses all get warm, even the radiator hoses in the engine bay. But I can't bleed the radiator, there's the sound of hissing air, but no water, and the rad doesn't heat up. The indicator for the h2o temp climbed steadily past the light, as then I turned it off. Next step is replacing the radiator. I flushed the engine coolant passages and the heater out with a gardening hose. No sign of blockage. I will flush the long radiator hoses out, as I replace the rad. Why my transmission is trouble now is a mystery to me, too. The clutch does not disengage fully, can't seem to be able to disconnect the motor from the trans, in other words, maybe my slave cyl is bust, too. There seems to be too much travel when I step on the clutch pedal. Never had this problem before recent incident. We'll see.

Cheers

Matthias
