Spencer,

You can replace the crossover vent line (the one with the Y joints) fairly easily if you 1. put the new vent line hoses on it first (a bit longer than needed 2. tie a long string to the old one before you pull it out (the strong is to pull the new on into place)

The whole process took me about 20 minutes.

Can you see the leak, its a little bit confusing from your description, but my guess is that the "Y" joints on top of the tank are broken. I think there is a diagram in the bentley, but the hoses that go to the expansion tanks comes from these Y joints, one on each side of the tank.

The good news is that it is not too bad to fix. Just go buy the part from the deal (~$30?) and buy a couple of the grommets too. Then, struggle like hell for an hour or two trying to feed it through the wheel wells. Its a bit of a pain, but doable.
