Subject: No cold idle, More details found.

I have posted a few posts today (and done about 2 hours of archive research) regarding my 83.5 not idling while the engine is cold. Thanks to everyone who replied (A big special thanks to John Hawke who came through with just the right info I needed). I have determined that my auxillary air valve (regulator?) is closing too soon. On a completely cold engine, I blow through the hose that goes to the aux air valve and it blows through freely. The van starts right up and idles OK for about half a minute then sputters and dies. After it dies I try again to blow through it again and air will not pass, it is closed. Once the engine warms up completely, there is no problem. So does the Temp II sensor "tell" the aux air valve when to close?? Is this likey the problem? Is adjusting the screw on top of the AFM to allow in more air during cold weather a "cheat" way to offset this til O can get it fixed??
