Matthew I freight blocks all the time as you know I have a contract of sorts with consolidated freight they give me a 40% discount that I pass along to my customers. paying retail with a freight co is expensive! the weight of a long block in a crate is 205 with the crate it takes about a sheet of plywood to make a crate and a 2x3 or two so that's got to be 25 or 30 pounds in wood. it costs me $147 to ship a crate from Boston to ST Paul MN and about the same to get it to the west coast go figure. I have sent engines in crate on planes in the past its a lot more tricky lately. If you are in no hurry then it can be cheaper but you will have to prove there is no fluids in the engine and that its not a risk to the plane don't put the lid on until they have had a chance to inspect it good luck Bob
