Ok everyone: My engine is running fne but I have a nagging question: In BEntley's fine but rather cryptic tome, for the 85 1.9 it shows a flat, slim pulley for the crank end, with a v-notch for timing. The specs further state that the timing should be 5 atdc. So, I would assume that the mark would correspond to 5 ATDC. Now, my engine is an 85, but is an AC + PS one, so has a three-groove heavy cast pulley. This pulley is not shown under 85 in BEntley, but appears under 86. Problem is, under the 86, the timing is 5 BTDC (IIRC). So, I would have to assume that the v-notch in the visually identical pulley would correspond to 5 BTDC. What is correct for my engine? DO I use the vnotch on the three groove pulley and call it good? Or ...? My engine is running well, but this question is bothering me... Thanks Rio 85 GL 83.5 Westy |
