Subject: Vanagon bull bars/brush guards... please read-those interested

ive had a few responses on the bullbars/brush guards..
so far I've found 2 US based companies selling them - MSDS and Tiico.
here is a link to the MSDS one:
http://www.msdsinc.com/vanagon_pbg.htm
and here is a link to the Tiico one:
http://www.tiico.com/brush%20grd%20frnt.jpg
and
http://www.tiico.com/brush%20grd%20side.jpg
(you may have to eliminate the "%20" in the URL)
also, ken Wilford at Vanagain.com is contemplating selling one too, you can
see the pics at:
http://vanagain.com/brush1.htm
i like the way the MSDS one goes up around the headlights, but the one they
offer for the fiberglass bumpered vans required drilling thru the fiberglass
bumper, which i dont like. their one for the steel bumpers is nice, tho.
Tiico makes a good one for the fiberglass bumpered vans, but as you can see
in the pics, its looks rather "unfinished".. with the bars just coming out
horizontally, and stopping.. i do like how they mount tho - no drilling to
the fiberglass bumper.
but the best design so far is the one on Ken Wilfords site, the one on the
blue vanagon in the pic (#2). that looks incredibly beefy, and offers both
protections to the headlights as well as the front bumper, plus its nicer
looking mandrel bent tubular steel. the question is - Ken, do they make this
to fit fiberglass bumpered vans, and if so, what is the price, and
avalibility?
Ken mentioned to me that in order to order them, he needs enough interest to
make importation worthwile.
so, please, everyone interested, take a look at some of these designs, and
give your feedback to me, or ken wilford (kenwilfy@aol.com).
i am still considering making my own, if i cannot find one to my liking.
the one i make will look some what like a cross between the MSDS one and the
one pictured on Ken wilfords website (brushguard#2). it will mount like the
Tiico one, without any drilling or modification to the bumper. it will be
constructed mostly of mandrel bent tubular steel, with protection for the
area around the headlights like the MSDS one, and with protection for the
front bumper like the one on Vanagain's website. it will also have a push
bar in front, as well as mounts for tow hooks.
anyway, look at the ones pictured and give Ken Wilford and me your feedback..
