My van has developed an oil leak: not too thirsty, used up about 2/3 qt. in 1200 miles, but leaving a distinctive puddle under the rear end. Naturally, I first suspected the botched-up oil drain plug that Sir Speedy put in there not too long ago(that's another story), but today, in anticipation of my upcoming appt. at Der VW Shoppe, I popped open the engine lid and much to my dismay saw spattered oil in the vicinity of the right cylinder head and cover plate. It has gotten the cover plate a bit wet, has thrown it over onto the air-intake hose and is all wet in that general area. The right-hand valve cover down below is dry. Any ideas? My Haynes manual has limited photos of the area in question, so I'm hard pressed to give a more precise description. I am trying to educate my self BEFORE the van goes to der shop so I am not taken on 'der ride'. Any thing you can think of for me to look at would be appreciated.
