That's a great idea, David! This mount is one of the biggest issues facing those who tackle this type conversion. The Quantum/Passat manifold works best, IMO, but then finding one, as you mentioned, is a problem. One note: On a 1.9TD, some engines came with a smaller turbo that used a bolt-on wastegate actuator instead of the big cast unit that was integral to the turbine housing. These (bolt-on) will clear the stock diesel mount, I've been told, with at most some very minor grinding on the cast arm. The mount you are fabricating--same one for 1.6, 1.9, and 1.9TDI? The TDI would require a differently-shaped mount, correct? The TDI turbo is mounted in a different location as I remember. Kudos for recognizing a need for these mounts.
