I don't think he had the battery disconnected while doing the work this might caused a short also, when I did my fuel pump I did'nt want to cause a spark so I disconnected the pos on the battery.

when i play with wires or electrical I disconnect the battery. BTW my sig light caused a fuse to blow, my wifes cheep tire pump fit loose in the socket. so anything can happen in the world of electrons. :)
