The reason that I said "your car is my crush zone" Is that I have an ARB Bullbar on the front of the Land Cruiser.

Take a look: http://www.mfiap.com/airsoft/fj60.htm

I bought it after a Honda catapulted over the center median of interstate 80-actually flying five feet over guardrail into the oncoming lane (where I was) The Honda landed on the roof. I had enough room to stop. I ordered the ARB the next morning.

An ARB type bullbar for the Vanagon would certainly prevent intrusion into the front cab! And help to 'ride up' on top of other cars as demonstrated in the Volvo crash pic. A lot of energy is expended by crawling up onto the other cars hood and using their vehicle as a crush zone to lessen impact injuries.

I know it sounds callous, but I would prefer have any injuries apply to the other driver - absolutely when they are at fault. After all, isn't it everyones right to protect their family? If you don't believe in basic physics, then let Darwin prevail ;-) and drive a compact (able) car.
