Subject:      Carver P4 won't start when very cold

My Carver P4 works fine at moderate temperatures.  Below
freezing and down to about 25 degrees F, it takes about 2
cycles (2 trys per cycle) before ignition occurs.

Now, with temps down below that--14 last night--it just
won't ignite even after 4-5 cycles.  I have propane,
and I can hear (?) the sparker at the proper point in
the attempt, but never any combustion.  The panel goes
to a solid red light which means low pressure or
"control failure."  The stove burners seem to burn
normally, so I think my propane pressure
is OK.  I have two tanks and switching doesn't make any
difference, so that tests two regulators, one new last
summer, the other original ('87).  I'm betting when the
whole system is back above freezing, it will work.

Has anyone else with a Carver had this sort of a
problem, or does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?
