<html><div style='background-color:'><DIV> <P>I actually had the same problem several months ago. Happened across a posting on bypassing the starter solanoid with a Ford solanoid which you just bolt to the wall in the engine compartment. Do a search under "solanoid. If you don't find it e-mail me and I will write up directions. It's real easy! I did it mainly cause I have a Syncro and wanted nothing to do with removeing the starter. Good luck!</P> <P>Randy Charrette</P> <P>87 Syncro weekender<BR><BR></P></DIV> <DIV></DIV> <DIV></DIV>&gt;From: Bill Marshall <WILLOLYN99@AOL.COM> <DIV></DIV>&gt;Reply-To: Willolyn99@AOL.COM <DIV></DIV>&gt;To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM <DIV></DIV>&gt;Subject: Sticking Starter <DIV></DIV>&gt;Date: Thu, 17 Jan 2002 12:03:11 EST <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Hey, folks, <DIV></DIV>&gt; I got a problem. My starter (more correctly, the solenoid) sticks <DIV></DIV>&gt;when the van is hot, like after a long drive. I have perfected the routine <DIV></DIV>&gt;of grabbing a board and running around to the wheel well and poking the <DIV></DIV>&gt;starter, which works, but I am looking for a more permanent solution. I have <DIV></DIV>&gt;already cleaned contacts, checked voltage, etc., and it isn't electrical -- <DIV></DIV>&gt;my guess is that something is getting hot and expanding and wedging it self. <DIV></DIV>&gt;One quick tap with a piece of pine usually dislodges it. Any opinions or war <DIV></DIV>&gt;stories are welcome. Thanks. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Bill Marshall <DIV></DIV>&gt;85 GL Tiico w/'chinese fire drill' starter <DIV></DIV>&gt;Phoenix AZ <DIV></DIV></div><br clear=all><hr>MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: <a href='http://go.msn.com/bql/hmtag3_etl_EN.asp'>Click Here</a><br></html>
