I looked at a EV MV Weekender in San Diego last month. It would be nice to have a new, reliable (?) vehicle, but then I looked at the way I use my '90 Westy and it wouldn't be the same. The intrusion of the left front wheel hump would be uncomfortable on a long trip. I am not very big, but it was a struggle to get from the driver's seat to the rear, what with the narrower passage and the auto shifter right in the way. Once in the back, the living space is smaller and with my Westy, even without the top popped, I can almost stand up. The bed platform in the EV doesn't fold back, so this was definitely in the way. I long ago removed the upper bunk from my Westy, and covered that area with carpeting, and put screw eyelet's around the edge, to hold bungee cords. I can store a lot there, including a fragile 2'x'4 egg crate style light diffuser, crosswise, completely out of the way, while I continued to stealth camp until I was ready to come home. Oh yeah, I just ordered a new re-built alternator from Ken, so now I have more invested and more reason to keep it. Jerry P.S. If anyone is interested, the one I looked at was at City Chevrolet-VW, they had 3, and they are priced about $1,600 below MSRP. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Morrell, Edward" <Edward_Morrell@JDEDWARDS.COM> To: <vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM> Sent: Friday, January 18, 2002 9:41 AM Subject: Goodbye Eurovan Detroit Auto Show
