Truck stops are great. I used to drive semi's. When you walk in the door they have no idea what kind of vehicle you drove in with. You are just another road weary trucker as far as they can tell. This goes for men and women. It's been a few years (or more) but my recollection is that most are $5.00 or less. Another great service at Flying J truck stops (and others) is rental books on tape. You sign up for membership and you rent books on tape at any Flying J and return them at any other Flying J. Great for LONG drives. Kept me alert many a long run on the road.

I've never used truck stops this way before. So, do all/most truck stops have showers? And, will they let some VW hippy use the shower is will they insist on restricting access to truckers? How about costs - what have you found is typical?

thanks, b
