Was getting the beast (87 wolfsberg weekender)ready
for a trip, decided to finally fix the front
windshield wiper fluid pump. Easy, right?

1. thought it was just empty so....fill it. Fluid
leaked everywhere. container was full. = broken pump

2. pulled container/pump combo - everything appears
attached appropriately.

3. pulled off hose from pump - placed low pressure air
at end of hose and could feel it coming out of
sprayers at windshield. = no clog in hose

4. pulled plug off pump - voltmetered the ends with my
brother triggering the pump from inside = 12 volts

5. connected pump while attached to container to
external 12 volt battery - sprayed about 10 feet

6. reconnect plug, hose, etc. no spray. not even a
sound from the pump.

What the heck is going on?


additional info - usually when you trigger the pump
from inside, the windshield wipers are also
automatically triggered to wipe three times. I get no
wiping at all..... unless the pump is unhooked from
its electricity source - then I get three wipes.

I'm just going to replace the pump and see what
happens. Unless I find them to be, er, spendy.
