The pulley will have a rounded notch in the second land -- this is TDC. The engine rotates clockwise, so if your v-notch is to the left of the round notch then it is indicating ATDC (which is what I'd expect since it came on the 1.9l engine). If the v is to the right of the round then it indicates BTDC.

Spare pulleys come with only the rounded notch, the installer is supposed to put the v in the correct place.
