After rebuilding several CV prefix air cooled Vanagon TypeIV engines I've noticed that none of them have had the oil sump baffle plate in them and the plate is not shown on the EKTA for the 80-83 year model (CV series). It is however shown in the EKTA and itemized on the earlier type IV air cooled engines, part #022-101-553. I can see that the baffle could be an asset in an engine that was installed in a dune buggy or sports car but with the stable Vanagon body I don't see much reason to have it in there. The question: Was the CV series 2000cc Type IV ever OEM shipped with these baffles? I just can't resist filling up a page, so: Is there a way to properly remove the tiny pits in rocker arm adjusting screw contact surface so they can be reused?
